Absentee Voting
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on election day may request to vote by absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the City of Milton for at least twenty-eight (28) days prior to the election. The requesting voter must be a registered voter in the City of Milton to request an absentee ballot.
To obtain an absentee ballot, a written request must be received by the City Clerk/Treasurer's office for the upcoming election. You can personally come to City Hall and complete a written application or download an application from the State of Wisconsin Government Accountability Board website and mail it in to City Hall. Forms are also available on the City website. You can also mail a letter to City Hall that states your name, address, and where you want the ballot sent. If you choose to come personally to City Hall to submit your request, you will have the opportunity to vote absentee at that time. Ballots may not be taken home from City Hall. Ballots can be cast at City Hall or they can be mailed to the address on the request.
The deadline to request a ballot be mailed to a voter is 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the election.
The deadline for “in person” absentee ballot voting at City Hall is 5:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to the election.
All voted absentee ballots must be returned to the City Clerk/Treasurer prior to polls closing on election day.
Ballots received after poll closing will not be counted.
