Starting a Business
Establishing a Business in Milton
The City of Milton strives to be a business-friendly community and assist potential business owners in their endeavors. In order to be successful in any community, it is important to know the process of establishing a business. Below are a few key points to consider:
  • Attend a Technical Review Committee (TRC) meeting
    • TRC generally meets the first and third Thursday of each month. The TRC is comprised of the administrator, clerk, and Director of Public Works. The committee can provide the potential business owner with all of the information to start on the right path.
  • Study the Development Review Schedule
    • This document will be provided to you at the TRC meeting or upon request. Depending on your business type and the location of the business, there may be a council meeting or a commission meeting that you will have to attend. The Development Review Schedule outlines a few of the different processes that some business owners must go through.
  • Apply for a business license
