Paving the Path to Homeownership – Home Buyer’s Workshop Schedule

The Home Buyer’s Workshop is designed to assist individuals and families in becoming homeowners in North Rock County by giving them the information they need to make a wise purchase decision. The workshop is geared toward first-time homebuyers; however anyone, in any stage of the home-buying process, can attend. Topics discussed include: the benefits of homeownership, household budgeting and credit, the benefits of a home inspection, writing an offer to purchase, the mortgage application process, property taxes and local down payment and closing cost assistance programs.

These free workshops are offered throughout the year, in four, two-hour classes held on weeknights or two, four-hour sessions held on Saturdays. Upcoming class dates are as follows: August 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and November 4 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Home Buyer’s Workshop is sponsored by the City of Janesville, Rock County Planning and Development, local lenders including Anchor Bank, Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Associated Bank, Johnson Bank and M & I Bank. Classes are taught by Community Action, Inc. of Rock and Walworth County. Pre-registration is required.
