Alliant Energy Upgrades for Milton

Alliant Energy has kicked off a large-scale 5-year project to provide major upgrades to the electricity system serving Milton. This project is called "Power Milton". What is Power Milton? A large-scale system upgrade to improve electrical reliability in the City of Milton and position the community for future growth and development. Click on the link attachment at the end of this article for a map showing the upgrade areas.

Why do Power Milton? Activating a strategic plan to enhance the electric reliability and system performance.

What does Power Milton involve? Trimming trees away from overhead power lines to increase clearance and upgrade electric faclties for future load growth.

How long will Power Milton take? This project will be done in phases over four years. These phases include:

  • Upgrade electric utilities in LaMar - 2007
  • Upgrade electric utilities line along High St.- 2007
  • Upgrade electric utilities line south of Milton along John Paul to Janesville - 2008
  • Upgrade electric utilities along Madison St N. of railroad tracks & line going around the far north and west side of Milton -2009-2010

How much is Alliant Energy investing in Power Milton? Approximately $8.4 million investment in the utility infrastructure over 5 years in the community of Milton.

What can customers in Milton expect? You will experience planned electric service interruptions during the installation of these electric facilities.
