Openings are posted at city hall, on the web and are normally advertised in the classified section of local newspapers. An interested individual may apply for an available position by completing an application and forwarding a resume to us. Applications are available on line or at city hall. General applications may be submitted by mail, fax or email to city hall unless otherwise posted.

CITY ADMINISTRATOR/FINANCE DIRECTOR The City of Milton (population 5,677), located just 30 miles south-east of Madison, is seeking to fill the position of City Administrator / Finance Director. The City has nearly a $7M budget (including utilities) and 35 regular employees. The Administrator reports to the Mayor and Council (6 at-large alderpersons). The City has had two Administrators during the past 12 years. This key position offers an opportunity to work in a team environment for a community that has experienced consistent growth and development. In particular, the City is seeking a collaborative manager with a passion for public service, successful track record in all facets of economic development, solid financial management and budgeting experience, and excellent communication skills. The City Council also seeks a visionary who is able to work with stakeholders to conceive big ideas, establish support for the ideas, plan for their implementation, and pursue completion. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or related field (master’s preferred), and at least five years of progressive management experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
